Evening screening of the film/documentary “Return to Fukushima” by Belgian director Thomas Licata. Followed by live electronic music performances from Dropthedyle and Curver!
Synopsis:
For several years, the Japanese government has been building housing developments in the heart of Fukushima Prefecture. More than a decade after the accident, the still heavily contaminated region is seeing the emergence of these concrete neighborhoods, nestled amidst a wild and radioactive landscape. This film paints an intimate portrait of the inhabitants of these places and offers a poetic reflection on the region.
Soizic Schoonbroodt, professor of Japanese language and culture at UMons, will be with us to present the film alongside Thomas Licata. Before the screening, they will discuss the theme "Pop culture and nuclear power in Japan."
